A new website for Kipchak, and the enterprise roadmap in the open
Kipchak — the PHP API Development Kit we build and run our own production traffic on — has a new website. Until now, kipchak.dev was documentation only. It is now a full product site, with the documentation as one section of it.
What is on the new site
The ecosystem catalogue lists every Kipchak package in one place: 25 shipped drivers and middleware, each marked free or enterprise, with a one-line description and a link to its documentation. The free packages are MIT-licensed and remain so.
The catalogue also carries the roadmap in the open. 24 planned packages are listed unlinked, so that anyone evaluating Kipchak can see what is coming before it ships.
The enterprise tier
Kipchak Enterprise today comprises six proprietary packages: the Valkey, OpenSearch, Kafka and OAuth 2 Token drivers, and the JWT authentication and Subashi Pro WAF middleware.
The planned enterprise packages address the requirements of regulated and high-volume APIs: audit logging, role- and attribute-based authorisation, PII redaction, idempotency, rate limiting and quota, circuit breaking, usage metering and multi-tenancy on the middleware side; Vault/OpenBao, LDAP and Open Policy Agent among the planned drivers. Demand moves items up the list, so a team that needs one of these should tell us.
Three things about how the tier operates are now published rather than negotiated:
- The licence terms are public. The Enterprise Licence Terms are on the site, in full. Packages are delivered as source through an authenticated Composer repository, licensing is enforced at delivery only, and an expired licence never interferes with software already installed. There is no telemetry and there are no licence keys in the code.
- Support runs through the Mamluk Console. Enterprise customers raise tickets at console.maml.uk. The baseline response time is three working days; support plans above the baseline are available under an Order.
- The roadmap is public. What we intend to build is on the site before it exists, and stays marked as planned until it ships.
